So, I walked over to my neighborhood bookstore yesterday, and was delighted to see that it was packed with holiday shoppers. You can’t really see it in this photo, but the line of people purchasing books stretched from the cash register all the way to the guy in the pink and yellow sweater standing by the “i A” sign. And people weren’t just buying one or two books, they were buying armloads. Why did this make me so happy? Because in the days of Amazon and ebooks, it was encouraging to see that people still enjoy holding a physical book in their hands. I was also happy because for a few minutes, time moved a little slower; the world got a little quieter. It was a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
